The Midday Sun Dims, Hidden by this Shade - Sonnet Fourteen
The midday sun dims, hidden by this shade,
Cast on my heart by those who think they own,
How best my life, in their opinions made,
Should lead to our/their benefiting shown.
They need stand down, lest in their shading cast,
Bring down upon us both unwanted storm,
That breaks, a hurricane in nature’s blast,
For none my nature knows in shades’ deform.
How rare they think that they should know me well,
Who know no nature of my heart at all?
For who, the nature of my heart would tell,
And not expect a violent rain to fall?
Let those who think they have my best at heart,
Keep silent, lest my nature’s storm impart.
