Renga: Sensei’s Shodo – Day Twenty-Seven

 (linked senryu)

1
winter gathers clouds
the stove stoked in glowing coals
tumults swiftly rise

2
bare branches shudder
hearing sounds of poet’s words
parting lips awake

3
bough resists the storm
how skilled the sensei’s shodo
smiling tastes his lines

4
night spreads in thunder
brush’s stroke, wet on rice sheets
borne like bent hips’ curve

5
rain flows in torrents
the bedroom door stands open
heat that melts in pools

6
floods from mountain peak
midnight bed resumes its rest
dreams that come like moon
