Blooming

Bright orange,
blooming
waves of petals
spread across the hills -
bursting through the earth's
surface to say hello
to the sun.

Our hot, dry desert
that the world loves,
brown and lifeless
for as long as I've known it -
now transformed,
surprising me with its
hidden beauty.

Pretty purples and pinks
and poppies galore,
and a bit of blue
sprinkled in here and there.
Yellow and white mixed in
everywhere, and
the most vibrant green grass
I've ever seen.

Fields full of
God's artwork,
little gifts from heaven
stretching out as far
as I can see.
