Her Eyes

looking into her beautiful brown eyes always gives me peace
so very loving and beseeching me to accept her loyal affection
 
she never asks for anything  
content with the things I provide
 
when an illness strikes
she is by my side
ready to keep me safe
I see concern in her face
but at the same time it radiates raw love
 
always my steadfast companion
ready to do anything I propose
everyone comments on how beautiful her eyes are
and how well behaved she is
 
but she has a spunky playfulness  
her frenetic energy is exuded from those expressive eyes
it bubbles over to those around her
hard to tell her no, when I see her sweet face
 
I am comforted knowing she's home and asleep in her bed
