The Pills Remember
the pills remember, chemical intrusion
parasitic reversed, synaptic gaps
spark artificial philosophy
psychotheraputic twitch minus
an electric inhale, panic
eased by degrees, a pale eye
unfocused and serene
a mind fortified against
cause and effect, even in danger
it cannot scream

I'll open by saying I appreciated your comment on my poem, Dragon Chasing, is always great to receive criticism that speak to the meaning of a poem and it's effect.
Speaking of which, this poem carries a very powerful energy in its description of the way medication can desensitize a person. The ending, "a pale eye...it cannot scream" gains strong support from the opening and leaves the reader with a feeling of emptiness, uncertainty, and in my case, even fear.
Good work, on a personal note, this poem really speaks to me. As someone who has gone through a rainbow of medications (prescribed or otherwise) I believe you have a good handle on how to communicate the relationship between people and the drugs that hold them.
