Tanka #23 ...
truth is often very dear...and
wisdom don't come easy...
I have often wished...that
all those enlightening years
didn't weigh - quite - so - much.

Often the truth is viewed as rotting cat food in the sun ...
Near truth might be a better fit

As truth is what I sought back then...and
more of same is what I'm seeking
So one day I might aquire a little
more wisdom along the way...
In light of my write I am curious...
...eh? Beg your pardon...Please explain what you mean...Ely

The older I get the more I find people are adverse to real truth. So they make a mess of things and then it just smells bad like cat food rotting in the midday son.
Truth is only attainable up to a certain age .....

You wouldn't be trying to fit me into a pre-conceived notion, would you, Poet? ;D
As to your latest assessment, good sir... I heartily disagree.
With every new year I have thusly attained...the more clearly I can see.
Experience and age grow perspective... to see things near and away
Needn't convince a squirrel who...''can't see the forest for the trees.''
Of course the poor creature was blind to it.
He-was-sitting-on-top-of-the-view.
That's why the squirrel is equated with, ''Nuts''
and a limited point-of-view... Ely

"I have often wished...that
all those enlightening years
didn't weigh - quite - so - much."
... thinking out loud here, but maybe when we truly 'get' an aspect of truth, it doesn't weigh anything. If it weighs heavy (as is often my experience) it means I'm still trying to process something and figure it out.

I'd say you are absolutely right on, Josh...Truth adds no weight to one's shoulder...
but I was referencing the ''weight of years''...
They get heavier as i get older... hugs, Ely

Ahh, I know what you mean now. Thank you.
{On a different level of 'weight', I've sold my Clavinova piano and had to get it out of the house into the van today. Phew. I'm sure it wasn't that heavy when I carried it into the house 10 years ago}.
