Minnow: Notes of an Online Journal
“Minnow”
Yes I sure did, I hated boys.
Since before puberty they came,
dog-piling on my female parts.
like sharks dry-humping a minnow,
dragging me thru’ an ocean deep
in a tank in the garage with
body parts of Ken and Barbie,
scarring me how I would always
compare the female form to mine;
concave when I shoulda protruded.
But no matter how I looked, or
if I was shaped like a bread stick,
wore pigeon-toed corrective shoes,
had a double part in my hair...
my own ‘summer of love’ began
in my junior year on campus,
with flowers, and extra credit.
The white daisies were for my hair,
made of plastic from arts & crafts.
I don’t recall which credits I took.
Who thinks of that? I was in love!
The sun & rain, Shakespeare & life!
