Perdition
A collection of impurities
Remorse for actions long ago
The curse of curare dreams
Maniacal, deeply insane
Faces dimmed by memory
Still heard now within my soul
The voices that would have me damned
Perdition for a feast of sins
Will I die before I wake
And perish by the coming day?
Flames will travel up my legs
And madness may be here to stay.

I may have lost that shine, and my soul maybe in jeopardy, but I do try to atone. Fortunately, I'm not alone. Purgatory is really the next logical step for me and my associates. Thank you McJay. You made my day.

I'm reckoning 'purgatory' is life-on-planet-earth where suffering is some kind of catalyst for transformation into better humans - yet it's only fuller understanding of the suffering that opens the way for a redemptive experience. Some aspects of life seem to take decades before grace and chance offer us a way to 'get it'. When we do, it all seems worth it, despite the years gone by.

Thank you for the eloquent and thoughtful comment, Josh. You give your words deep thought and not rely on the usual superlatives or in some cases, the expressions of mixed feelings. I appreciate your words.

I feel your pain and I ask myself that same question. Yet the heavens are mute. Magnificent as also my friend.

The heavens are mute, but still they may offer a welcome to you when the time comes. I suspect so. Thank you J.

I like your philosophy, JusTim. I try to forget the past but, unfortunately, it still plagues me. Yet I'm inclined to move on, make the most of the man I am today, although deeply flawed. Thank you!

I usually stumble when it comes to free verse, so I very much appreciate your praise. Coming from a poet of your caliber, I am truly honored.
