THE BABY, THE MOTHER, AND CHRIST
THE BABY, THE MOTHER, AND CHRIST
Look at that fast sleeping child and deem
if his smiles divulge his soft dream.
He appears so glad and satisfied
as his worried mum is at his side.
If she leaves him for a second, he
fills the place with cries, a sort of plea,
urging her to hold him close to her;
that's what makes him calm and of joy sure.
Who is mum in this tremendous world,
but a little and a hopeless child,
who regards the world a fearful place,
where no certainty can give a glimpse?
Eyes of tender love are found in You
when You cured the blind and gave a clue,
showing us that death was not the end,
but a step for us to you ascend.
