The Big Blue

Sunlight dancing upon her surface
Like cut diamonds upon their tread
Within her shipwrecks treasure chest
Mermaids slumber her seabed

Beams of sunlight filter through
Revealing giant pinnacles of carpet lush
Strawberry anemones cover her rocks
An expression of Gaia's artistic touch

Within her charm she does bestow
To those her own volcanic lands
Where island people fish with nets
From canoes carved by native hands

To her many a hearty song be sung
In warning for her forbidding rocks
To her many a prayer cried out
In remembrance to many souls lost

Like a thief in the night she steals the land
As the moon calls to her tenderly
As lovers she swells in its magnetic touch
Thus withdrawing is sweet release

Zealously the winds awaken her fury
As white horses stampede the way
She'll reign without thought to mercy
For all shall flounder into her watery grave
