Re: Re. Forbidden Love
Thanks for your interest ... I was thinking about a lot of different things when I wrote it.
My pal's brother is gay. He told me he was going to his brother's wedding. I made all the congratulatory statements and gestures to which my pal just rolled his eyes. He explained that he'd already been to his civil partnership ceremony and ... he didn't say this but intimated it ... they were only getting married to make a political statement. It was obvious from my pal's reaction that he found this totally boring and irritating.
But that's only one of the things I was thinking at the time. It lead me to think of hollowed out acts of love in order to make political statements. I was also thinking about going to gay bars when I was younger and getting filthy stares for 'necking-on' with women.
(Good job I was only allowed 17 syllables).
