Maiden, Not
you forgot me on the hill
but kept the ribbon for my hair
Ive sat here for hours to cry my fill
you knew I was never a Maiden Fair
Ive seen darkness, Ive seen death
I wield a sword and fight with men
I've made love and I've taken breath
and I would do it all again
you left me here wondering
but I know myself, I know my heart
I'll never be caught just wandering
I knew my path from the very start
so I don my helm and my shield
strap my leathers back 'round my waist
and I smile at the blade I yield
the moon still shines down on my face
you forgot me on the hill
keep my ribbons and burn my lace
Im no lady, but a fighter still
my own choices are my saving grace
but kept the ribbon for my hair
Ive sat here for hours to cry my fill
you knew I was never a Maiden Fair
Ive seen darkness, Ive seen death
I wield a sword and fight with men
I've made love and I've taken breath
and I would do it all again
you left me here wondering
but I know myself, I know my heart
I'll never be caught just wandering
I knew my path from the very start
so I don my helm and my shield
strap my leathers back 'round my waist
and I smile at the blade I yield
the moon still shines down on my face
you forgot me on the hill
keep my ribbons and burn my lace
Im no lady, but a fighter still
my own choices are my saving grace
