Twenty-eight steps
Twenty-eight steps to my cubicle
Twenty-eight steps up the stairs
28 steps to the inevitable
28 steps to my chair
Where I sit for 8 hours a day
Pimping my time away
For that little bit of pay
That allows me to pay my way
I pay my rent, I feed my kid
I manage my responsibilities
Inside, however, I feel dead
Not using my capabilities
I read a book by George Orwell
Entitled 1984
He gave an insider's look
Into my 2019 life to the core
Just like in the movie
I march to work each day
Twenty-eight steps to move me
To the place I will spend my day
Twenty-eight steps up the stairs
28 steps to the inevitable
28 steps to my chair
Where I sit for 8 hours a day
Pimping my time away
For that little bit of pay
That allows me to pay my way
I pay my rent, I feed my kid
I manage my responsibilities
Inside, however, I feel dead
Not using my capabilities
I read a book by George Orwell
Entitled 1984
He gave an insider's look
Into my 2019 life to the core
Just like in the movie
I march to work each day
Twenty-eight steps to move me
To the place I will spend my day
