Obsessively Obsessed.

Cooler than an avalanche, stoned like a rock slide,
The earth moves beneath his feet, he does not walk, instead he glides,
And everybody wants to be him,
But if they can't they want to beat him,
What they don't know is that beneath him,
Is the thing that will defeat him.
It's his pride,
And it's the source of his life,
A strong wind of change could bring an end to his light,
Snuff out the flame, bring on the darkness of night,
Surrounded by the masses, but he's out of their sight.
That thought, where he's lost the eyes of his peers,
That thought where's he's not, is the one that he fears.
And he fears that thought more than the concept of hell,
To which he knows he's doomed, he's just an empty shell,
But his outer layer's adorned with the grandest of jewels,
That bring comfort to scholars and the damndest of fools,
The patterns he wears, even the blind can see,
He's not trying to be perfect, just better than me.
And than you, and then you can finally know how it feels,
To be stepped over and crushed by the weight of his heels,
Watching god walk among us, as if he's tried all his tricks,
He's come to the conclusion that we cannot be fixed.
Which must mean that we're broken,
But the word of god has already been spoken,
So i guess while i wait for him to take the stand again,
I'll sit back and keep smoking with the closest of friends,
Waiting for a new word, or for the world to end,
If god is really dead, who dug the grave that he's in?
Did we overthink the omniscient, or did we slay him with sin,
Since we strayed from the path of the righteous and good,
Since we can't build an ark once we've run out of wood,
Should we feign ignorance and say we've misunderstood,
Or blame the rich for our problems like the robin hood would.
I say we keep our mouths shut, but keep our eyes locked open,
Like a diver that's lost in the heart of the ocean,
Watching the surface for fins but he's hoping,
That he won't find a fin, like he won't find his end.
El fin'.
