Yesterday's Flower
Like a sultry jazz song
In a smoke-filled room
She’s yesterday’s flower
No longer in bloom
She longs for a lover
She’s sharp and she’s soft
She’s yesterday’s flower
She’s cold and she’s hot
Sometimes she laughs
And at night she cries
She’s yesterday’s flower
Her naiveté has died
But somewhere inside
Where her dreams reside
No longer yesterday’s flower
Her lush bloom presides
Longing for a soft touch
A man with strong arms
To open her flower
And do her no harm
To kiss, to feel, to touch
She longs for his scent
To stroke her lush petals
She longs to feel spent
From the passion of a night
Filled with desire
She’s yesterday’s flower
Alone now she conspires
To conjure a dream
Like a phoenix he will rise
And yesterday’s flower
Will shine in his eyes
With desire he will take her
With desire she will reciprocate
She’s yesterday’s flower
Who longs for a mate
Her youth now is gone
Squandered on him
Fully in bloom
Her rose petals scattered to the wind
In a smoke-filled room
She’s yesterday’s flower
No longer in bloom
She longs for a lover
She’s sharp and she’s soft
She’s yesterday’s flower
She’s cold and she’s hot
Sometimes she laughs
And at night she cries
She’s yesterday’s flower
Her naiveté has died
But somewhere inside
Where her dreams reside
No longer yesterday’s flower
Her lush bloom presides
Longing for a soft touch
A man with strong arms
To open her flower
And do her no harm
To kiss, to feel, to touch
She longs for his scent
To stroke her lush petals
She longs to feel spent
From the passion of a night
Filled with desire
She’s yesterday’s flower
Alone now she conspires
To conjure a dream
Like a phoenix he will rise
And yesterday’s flower
Will shine in his eyes
With desire he will take her
With desire she will reciprocate
She’s yesterday’s flower
Who longs for a mate
Her youth now is gone
Squandered on him
Fully in bloom
Her rose petals scattered to the wind
