I hold a candle to the devil
I hold a candle to the devil
My hands tremble
The flame flickers at the bottom of the staircase
Satan demands a sacrifice
I read my daughter a story tonight
I hugged her and tucked her in tight
As I gave her a kiss I heard a voice
Outside which tormented inside my mind
It was Lucifer I heard him say "I want the lamb. I will collect the lamb later and I demand my order."
The devil wanted me to sacrifice my daughter
I knew they meant an innocent child the lamb of God.
I ran to the front room
I knew what I had to do
It was a dark night
I grabbed a knife and a candle to guide
I was quite as I climbed
Silent as I pushed open the bedroom door
I raised the blade up
My daughter woke up
She screamed as she saw
I suddenly stopped
I remembered outside was a new butchers shop it was opening up
The customer had returned they said
"Is this my bag? Hurry up I want my half a leg of a lamb".
My hands tremble
The flame flickers at the bottom of the staircase
Satan demands a sacrifice
I read my daughter a story tonight
I hugged her and tucked her in tight
As I gave her a kiss I heard a voice
Outside which tormented inside my mind
