The repetition of the "don't know" and "couldn't care" lines was a very clever technique. Weather intentional or no, it also emphasises the sense of hopelessnes in this poem. The middle line is well-wrought and vaguely baroque. Weird and beautiful.

well these are actually suppose to be lyrics so repeating lines is common in music to get a point driven in and add some breaks in the flow of the song.. vaguely baroque never thought of it that way but it is differently written than the rest of the poem
