Image for the poem Inside

Inside

In my minds eye still young and free
though this barbed wire bedecked wall
Wraps me up; contains my body
It's chains and shackles hang me tall

Outside my window the falling rain
In my minds eye still young and free
On a journey down lover's lane
Life outside my bars symmetry

Reflected sunlight my eyes see
Far off lands I once explor'd
In my minds eye still young and free
Happy memories; spent abroad

Here am I; Hanging by this chain
Heart slows; Nearly over? Maybe
Mistaken ID? All in vain?
In my minds eye still young and free
