Brexit is becoming so retro now in age that it'll actually be worth something!

Leave vs Remain is now passé
the real battle is Establishment vs democracy
of the 34million that voted, they all wanted democracy to prevail (except for the Alf Garnetts on both sides)
we're on tenterhooks as to what will happen ...

"Leave vs Remain is now passé" - I reckon that's true; major upheavals seem to be used by those in power to tighten their grip even more - if they can. How things go in France with the protests might be instructive.

I've been thinking about what would happen and what it would mean if the UK failed to Brexit.
Some may rejoice but for the UK it will be a political disaster. It will signify the break between the Nations of the UK and the Nation State. I remember reading something by a chap called Edward Luttwak discussing military coups in post colonial African countries. The countries would secede from their colonial powers, become democratic and then suffer a political coup. One analysis was blatantly racist ... they're not fit for (up to etc) democracy 'cos they're Africans etc. However, Luttwak's analysis was that the Nation State, ie the mechanism of government (civil service, police, judiciary etc etc) had all been set up as a mechanism of exploitation, by the colonial power, of the indigenous population. - I wont say nation 'cos lines were drawn in order to divide nations within areas. Anyway, when they became democratic countries, and then a coup was launched, it didn't much matter to those who operated the machinery of government whether it was a despotic or democratic rule since they were used to the Gov etc being just a machine for exploitation. I see a failed Brexit yielding that as Blighty's future. As to what would happen in this state of taxation without representation ... who knows ... massive civil disobedience, maybe?

Thank you for the lengthy comment.
"massive civil disobedience, maybe?"
... some advocate this as the only way. Divide and rule has worked so effectively for millennia, it's hard to know. A million marching against the invasion of Iraq didn't stop Tony Blair going ahead. But it seems he'd already said 'yes' to Bush, so couldn't back out.
