The Way It Is
“You’re too sad, so I’ll make you sane
Sane, that’s what you’re gonna be.”
Yes, I am sad, but that’s how it is.
Just how it is, how it will be.
I’d rather be dead than sane.
“You’re too restless, so I’ll make you normal.
Normal, that’s what you’re gonna be.”
I’ll admit I get restless, but that’s how I am.
Just how I am, how I will be.
I’d rather be dead than normal.
“You don’t fit in, so I’ll make you me.
Me, that’s what you’re gonna be.”
Fitting in was never the plan, and that’s how it is.
Just how it is, how it will be.
I’d rather be dead than fit in.
“You don’t have a label, so we’ll give you one.
Labeled, that’s what you’re gonna be.”
I don’t have patience for labels, that’s not gonna change.
Just not gonna change, never gonna change.
I won’t take time to be labeled because we’d be here for hours.

the sing song feel this has

Feels almost like song lyrics as opposed to a poem, but one is the other in its own way all the same.
I have to say though (and the whole reason for commenting at all) that the last line is the gold - it's a brilliant last one to leave us with.
Keep this up, it's good stuff.
