Embarrassed; Petty Theft

Embarrassment; Petty Theft
This bitch here….stupid really but uh
She had purchased
2 tickets for the Black lesbian ball
And masquerade gala
To surprise me with but
Acupuncture points/herbology midterms
Were kicking my ass
She was done with school, so more optional
And we were doing something in between
Without a name; rare occurrence
Obstinate declined-insensitive said fine
“I’ll figure out someone else to ask at random
Just to accompany me”
Well, fickle got curious just about
The layout for this event so
We pulled up in black tie
She wasn’t even on my mind;
Yet we bumped into each right away
Oh lord, hmpf
Whoever she was there with; dissipated
Didn’t even get to glimpse the sistah
Apathy didn’t care either
She was all “I wasn’t expecting you to show up”
It was a “last minute spur” I said
Walked off from each other-she was livid
So, the voyeur in me found a table
To drown my drink in
Which was just my personality- unfortunately
When this sistah approached and asked
If she could have a seat next to me
“Sure”
Was a soft butch (flight attendant)
Ok whatever lived in the world of
Well more feminine looking women
So without a concept of that
Or anything else except for chatting
Although we ended with a number exchange
Who hadn’t even considered the possibility
That “my default” might have been
Peeping that from around the corner
Somewhere- slinky mannerisms of her
Were sneaky like that- To that degree
In between hitting the dance floor
By myself a few times, then leaving
Out of sight, out of mind-
Calls me on the phone a few days later
Detailing how the rest of the night went;
Milked her for drinks all night-
She played along
(Letting it slide because of her looks I’m sure
Observation knows how that usually goes but whatever)
Still perplexed
In retrospect; in her voice
Proceeding to describe the chick and uh
I’m like, “I hate to tell you this but
That was my piece: we apologize
That you got caught up
In the middle of a quarrel”
Her silence hung
Eerily: lifeless
On the other end
Of the line;
Which even creeped me out.

I confronted "default" about it
And she thought it was ironically humorous
Not laughing like lol but chuckling;
All on her own.

See, the story was stupid but it does
Demonstrate how petty can be.
