Questionable decisions
They slither behind you your questionable choices,
Some wise and courageous, some spontaneously shameless.
A message to anyone still in control,
Of their possible destinies, to not make assumptions.
In disturbing moments the mind shuts down,
feeling suffocated, can't breathe, beginning to drown.
Can you remember them? Are you still feeling grim?
Do you wish life could be different?
He walked through the ruins, dust still fills the air
Clouding his vision and polluting his lungs.
His anxious mind scans, analyzes to much,
further into obscurity feeling out of touch.
Waking up slowly I began to understand.
Before, I was a scared little kid, now I'm a lost belittled man.
Can you remember them? Is life still feeling grim?
Do you wish things could be different?
By the cruel and deceitful we were taken in hand
Shown how to stay dependent and told to obey.
Slack jawed and distracted we began to idolize,
now our true self hides behind a disguise.
And drifting behind us all, the confusion and pain
filling our brain, a test to just stay sane.
Can you remember them? Are you still feeling grim?
Do you wish life could be different?
