What People See
As the day ends
As the light begins to fade
She begins to feel more beautiful
In the skin that fire has wrought
There are less eyes out on the street
To turn and stare
And fingers to point at what they see
So she feels more comfortable in her skin
The ugliness of what people say
Is far worse than what has happened to her
To cause her mottled skin
They don't ever see what's inside her soul
And the gorgeous girl who lives within
But she is on a par with the most outwardly beautiful
When the lights fade away
At the end of the day
And she walks to see her lover
With her head held high in the moonlight
And a heart bursting with her love for her
For she is truly a woman with vision
As the light begins to fade
She begins to feel more beautiful
In the skin that fire has wrought
There are less eyes out on the street
To turn and stare
And fingers to point at what they see
So she feels more comfortable in her skin
The ugliness of what people say
Is far worse than what has happened to her
To cause her mottled skin
They don't ever see what's inside her soul
And the gorgeous girl who lives within
But she is on a par with the most outwardly beautiful
When the lights fade away
At the end of the day
And she walks to see her lover
With her head held high in the moonlight
And a heart bursting with her love for her
For she is truly a woman with vision
