I Danced Upon the Pond
You ever notice how some wee crawling beasties can skip
Along the surfaces of water and never ever sink?
To my favorite trysting place during my midnight trip,
I sat at the pond’s edge and dreamily began to think…..
The music of life often sings to me
All the notes lining up just right.
And if I look ever carefully,
I can see LIFE dancing in the moon’s light
Upon the open pond, a wonderful sight!
From my seated self I rose
And warily upon the water I stepped.
Not certain if this dream would hold,
I planted both feet and glanced
To see the bottom from atop the liquid cold.
Agog, I leaped ahead and ran and pranced!
The brisk dry air slapped at my skin -
Made me laugh aloud and I screamed
With delight so much so, the beasties within
And below awoke and joined me, it seemed.
Frogs croaking, Crickets chirping & night owls hoot,
Night birds singing, wolves howling at the moon,
Dragonflies skimming and fish jumping to boot!
The music of my dance is all of the latter!
I danced and danced until I let.....
My logic grew much fatter and long
And then I woke up thoroughly wet
As I tried to Feel the joy and remember.....
(how) I danced upon the Pond!
