Dear Season
She stands
Alone on the edge
Behind her the fire is raging
Pushing her to the brink
Screaming fear into her lungs
And you see her
Eyes unblinking
She’s drawn to this spot
Night after night
And she takes a step
Measures her own breath
Staring at the lights
They look so much brighter
Than what is behind her, than the fire
So she takes another step
And the lights collide
The stars are at her feet
Blinding lights in the sky
It’s so cold
The life is squeezed from her ribs
And drips from her mouth
Freezing before it falls
And the lights go out
No more fire
No more stars
No more fear
It’s all over by her own choice
No the fire’s choice
It won’t consume her heart
Not anymore
Alone on the edge
Behind her the fire is raging
Pushing her to the brink
Screaming fear into her lungs
And you see her
Eyes unblinking
She’s drawn to this spot
Night after night
And she takes a step
Measures her own breath
Staring at the lights
They look so much brighter
Than what is behind her, than the fire
So she takes another step
And the lights collide
The stars are at her feet
Blinding lights in the sky
It’s so cold
The life is squeezed from her ribs
And drips from her mouth
Freezing before it falls
And the lights go out
No more fire
No more stars
No more fear
It’s all over by her own choice
No the fire’s choice
It won’t consume her heart
Not anymore
