Impossible, Imperfect
'Wish this day was over...'
Oh, my heart aches as you say this.
Would that you could come home to me;
Let me lift the weight of days
And give you peace and rest
In my arms.
To stroke care and concern with my kiss
From each curve of your beloved face;
To enfold your weary, gentle frame in my embrace
And draw your breath in with my own.
To live in this simple desire
Should not be so difficult to achieve
And yet, it would up-end the worlds we know.
Oh, my heart aches as you say this.

Let me lift the weight of days
And give you peace and rest
In my arms.
To stroke care and concern with my kiss
From each curve of your beloved face;
To enfold your weary, gentle frame in my embrace
And draw your breath in with my own.

Should not be so difficult to achieve
And yet, it would up-end the worlds we know.
