I Am
I am not your brave man
no hero resides in my intentions
I am not your sound mind
no assured safety can be found in my actions
I am my history until I am overwritten
no words can heal the fractures
no bridge can reconnect the missing
I am only defined generously as a bad person
trying to be better by living honestly, being open, writing and sharing freely
I am no good for more than this right now,
neither is a typewriter in pristine condition
sitting and gathering dust.

Author's Note
More straightforward and to the point than per usual. I have no desire to recount every trauma I've lived, numerous though they are. I have let myself fall into a desolate life for all my faults, and it is an ongoing climb up towards something that feels good. This website hosts a wonderful community of poets. You all don't know the things that others might, and maybe it's for the best to let the past be. I can make peace with only as much as I allow myself to as long as I have the awareness to do so. I'm open to all types of feedback always. Please feel welcome to speak freely.
