Just This, Just Us, Justice

Just This
We've discussed at length the lengthy cost
the powerful sway of owing to others to right your wrongs
been over the crimes, the pain; the time you've lost
to bandage the out of place wounds of words where silence belongs
and Justice is deaf, her ears bleed
she can no longer hear us crying for retribution
she chooses not to see us in our time of need
her sword is absent, blindfold soaked by tears from this unwilling union
we were the scales and the balance all along,
the sword meant to cut to the truth and right the wrong
but we are balanced more-so by a heavy checkbook
our ideal of serving up evil is just that, ideal
and if you become a victim it is a trial to stand trial, the world we have let become is unjust just check, look.

Just Us
She stands and ignorant she beams
careless she swings the edges of her sword
never caring for the innocent it seems
her attire and her nature considerably untoward
her people cry for her to answer calls, headphones blast away
their pleads for her to restore their world to balance fall short
and with every time she sees the world around her, worse every day
her attempts to tune it out increase until it starts to hurt
she would rather be blind and deaf, speak to no one, smell no air
taste nothing and feel nothing than bear the burdens we share
it is better to dance and swing your sword about with less than a buried care
feeling as free as you never will under the deprivation of your duty that is ever there.

Justice
All the guilty are aware and know in their heart the deepest dread of her
her eyes show those who are conscienceless their darkest and truest nature
she is indifferent to the material world, the power that men hold dear
caring nothing for the life you desire if you embrace corruption to get near
she is the sword of time that no lie holds up against, piled ever higher
the fevered, anxious sweat of a coward running scared are the rat-paced words of a liar
hers is the blade of judgement for your actions that you cannot escape
you may try your tricks and elusive maneuvering, politics and all until your curtain calls to drape
she is the balance holding scales of all mankind and crimes of human nature
no mortal can defy the power of this balance, no force on earth outweighs her
and omnipresent as she is you can feel her from the start
whether the enforcers of men catch you or not, Justice holds the sword up to your heart.
