Useless Devotion

I awake at night,
my mind registering your voice,
though you are far gone,
and not here,
You left long ago,
yet my heart and my mind refuse this fact,
I see your face in the mirror,
on the street,
in my dreams.

I want to awake from you.

Take your hold from my heart.

Cruel devotion will not let me love another,
it is you,
only you.

I long to hear your lips whisper my name,
to feel you touch me,
if only for a second.

Your haunted memory,
is my one and only vice.

Please leave me be,
let me forget,
lest I will always be in this darkness.
