Margaret

Up the Apples and Stairs
Through the Elvis tapestry
That clung to the wall
Beyond are sanity
We hear her
sip tea
As the floorboards creak
We have to be quiet
We should not speak,
Creep past the door
Without taking a peek.

Come the morning light
She might
Replace the John Lennon album
With one by Elvis
She loved his mojo
But hated that yoko ono
"It had to go"
She said through her smile.

Her hair lackerd to perfection
I was amazed how it remained still
I was frozen in awe
And on further inspection
I received my answer
She was just that cool.

Somtimes freely
Somtimes speedy
Where was Margaret
When she became "Houdini"?
Eating biscuits
From the family circle
Staying up late
Now fully nocturnal.

Much like a bat
She could not see
I would wave my fingers
But she could only see Three.

She wore my old glasses
She once thought I was the neighbor
A dodgy mirage
Or a space invader.

I laughed through my tears
As did her spectators
Exsplaning she should have gone to specsavers.

But This poem was written in jest
As I figured you would want it
But what I really want to say followes
If you permit it.

Your spirit sighs beauty
captivating with every glance
Your essence inspires brilliance
safely within your trance
May the sun shine on you
today and everyday
may the stars shine
bright for you
in every way
They will always
remember every minute
of every day spent
every second
held in a special place and kept
and every rain drop
may drown are hearts
but every echo
they will remember your laugh
never alone
you will always be there
you never left
you are always here.
