I Am Fear
I am fear.
I come for
My nightly feeding.
I see her sprawled
Out on the bed
Already enmeshed in angst.
She closes her eyes
in an attempt to
Beat me back,
But I know the way in.
I whisper my lies
Which i paint
As promises.
She pleads for peace,
For the fire
In her head
To be put out.
But peace is not
What I came to give.
My purpose here
Has always been clear,
To see her doubt,
To see her unravel,
To see her cry out.
And though her pills
Will drive me
Into the darkness
and we will part
For a time,
I will be waiting
To feed on her again.
I come for
My nightly feeding.
I see her sprawled
Out on the bed
Already enmeshed in angst.
She closes her eyes
in an attempt to
Beat me back,
But I know the way in.
I whisper my lies
Which i paint
As promises.
She pleads for peace,
For the fire
In her head
To be put out.
But peace is not
What I came to give.
My purpose here
Has always been clear,
To see her doubt,
To see her unravel,
To see her cry out.
And though her pills
Will drive me
Into the darkness
and we will part
For a time,
I will be waiting
To feed on her again.
