prisoner number 206
the dawn saw me ache
at the beauty of you
your pure heart lit the darkness
shone in and laughed at the madness
you called it by name
the dark answered
it recognized your power
ordered to get back
the bleak cowered
in the ashes of what was you saw me
told me to come forth
I wept out of relief and fear
the night seethed
prisoner number 206;
released from its grip
I ran to you on trembling legs
you held me in your arms
never letting go
my heart raced
your masculinity raged
you growled lady
I waited for you to see me
recognize I was there
in my silent times, I wept
patiently I bide my time
until you recognized;
the sun that shone in my love
viewed yourself through my eyes
as a woman of light
you spoke and it was done
the night lay conquered
my shackles at your feet
together we walked into the day
my beauty beheld your truth
I was free

I sense a great pain of someone dear to your heart. A person condemned that you cherished and that cherished you. I don't sense guilt or fault, but a cruel destiny that ends with a triumph. Forgive me if I see wrong. The beauty of the verses enchant me. I feel peace in the end. Beautiful, cryptic. Excellent as always. J.

I agree with Juvenalis' eloquent comments. I get the sense of pain, but also the joy of reading your work. It's consistently brilliant.

Even in perpetual darkness, there is hope...beauty is born out of pain.

There’s a lot of gothic beauty to this; I imagine stone arches and iron bars and long, cold shadows...
This was emotionally immersive and drew me in, as always, dear Crim
