prisoner number 206

the dawn saw me ache
at the beauty of you
your pure heart lit the darkness
shone in and laughed at the madness

you called it by name
the dark answered
it recognized your power
ordered to get back
the bleak cowered

in the ashes of what was you saw me
told me to come forth
I wept out of relief and fear
the night seethed
prisoner number 206;
released from its grip

I ran to you on trembling legs
you held me in your arms
never letting go
my heart raced
your masculinity raged

you growled lady
I waited for you to see me
recognize I was there
in my silent times, I wept

patiently I bide my time
until you recognized;
the sun that shone in my love
viewed yourself through my eyes
as a woman of light

you spoke and it was done
the night lay conquered
my shackles at your feet

together we walked into the day
my beauty beheld your truth

I was free
