Thank You for your Sacrifice
There's times in our lives where we have to make a decision.
A decision to do things we don't want to so we can keep on living.
Living to protect our freedom and hold onto what's dear.
Dare to fight for an idea that will manifest into the next generation.
Generating truths that we are free to pursue happiness where ever we may be.
Be the catalyst for hope and dreams.
Dream of a world that's better than the one they left.
Left to believe that their sacrifice will not be in vain.
Vain thoughts have no place here.
Here they made their stand to fight for state and country; to fight for their loved ones.
One's who couldn't fight for themselves, so they carried the burden of weight.
Weight that they carried with their brothers and sisters in arms.
Arms that swore to protect the constitution that make us equal.
Equal sacrifices were made the day they decided there's something to fight for.
For we are the reason they sacrificed their limbs, their time from family, their life, their peace.
Peace they wanted for us, and bleed to make it a reality.
Reality is only forged through blood, sweat, tears, and dedication.
Dedication that would be the foundation of their survival.
Survival of the fittest who are fit to uphold the beliefs we were taught.
Taught to never turn a blind eye to those in need.
Need is the spine that stabilizes our wants.
Want's that surpass their own ambitions and give rise to ours
Ours is what they fought for, and never strayed from.
From the moment they made up their mind to fight for our freedom, their sacrifice was already made.
Made so that one day we can reap the benefits of their labor.
Labor that many have died from.
Died to insure that we will never have to compromise our way of living.
Living because their is still more to fight for, still more to sacrifice.
Sacrifice not for fame and glory, but because someone has to.
To solidify the desire to be free.
Free to make the choices that define who we are.
Are we to ignore all they have sacrificed without a second thought?
No, to our veterans I say this:
You are an American Airman.
You are a Warrior.
You have answered your Nation’s call.
Your mission was to Fly, Fight, and Win.
You are faithful to a Proud Heritage,
A Tradition of Honor,
And a Legacy of Valor.
You are an American Soldier.
You are a warrior and a member of a team.
You served the people of the United States, and lived the Army Values.
You have placed the mission first.
You never accepted defeat.
You have never quit.
You are a United States Sailor.
You have supported and defended the Constitution of the United States of America,
And you have obeyed the orders of those appointed over you.
You represent the fighting spirit of the Navy and those who have gone before you to defend freedom and democracy around the world.
You proudly served your country's Navy combat team with Honor, Courage and Commitment.
I say to you, this is your rifle.
There are many like it, but this one is yours.
Your rifle is your best friend. It is your life.
And you have mastered it, like you mastered your life...
So be it, until victory is America's and there is no enemy, but peace!
Thank you for your sacrifice.
