I agree. Really enjoy this poem. I think it's nice to wonder why the character is hesitant.

Interesting to read your perspective. In my mind, he wants her but has some of his own shit to figure out first.

Could be...the beautiful thing about poems like that is, they leave plenty of space for the reader to imagine.
