Fired Words

      
I set fire to the words
 
to burn the surplus fat      
 
reduce the spat-out-in-a-rage      
 
and cook it to a crisp -      
 
blazing a trail between the lines
 
it sets their spirit free
 
and when the smoke has settled
 
the words set fire to me.
