Love Remains
I wonder if tomorrow He will love me
I wonder if love’s wandered far away
I wonder if this life is better less me
I wonder if a distance I should stay
I remain here
yet I gaze at many scenes,
of places dark and light
and in between.
My emotions travel
as they often do,
through many shades of fear,
yet love pursues.
I open up
the cage of hidden sorrow.
I release abundant tears
and mourn with pain.
Though when streams of anguish
dwindle to a trickle,
I look into my heart
and love remains.
Love remains right here
where I am still in waiting.
Love remains right here,
for it has never gone,
not faded
nor diminished
or expended.
Love remains right in my heart here
all along.
I realize that love
cannot be taken.
Love cannot disappear
after it’s given.
I hold the love
He’s planted deep within me,
I choose if it will shine
or will be hidden.
So grateful for His love,
I cannot hoard it.
I cannot lock away
love secretly.
I can let love
change my heart
and heal my worry.
I can let love overflow
and carry me...
carry me through waves
of dark emotion,
change my burden
into one of grace,
for love always origins
with my Father
and the priceless gift
of love
reflects His face.
“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.’”
Matthew 11:28-29 NLT
“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NLT
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:12-13 NIV
