rampant commercialism.
Corporations pulling
Santa's strings.
"You need one of these"
or
"have you got a gift
for your mother yet?"

Is it the fact
that we are
stopping the world
to remember
an imaginary man?
"Happy birthday Jesus!"
what did I get you?
what does it matter?

Perhaps it's the idea
that for one day a year
we can all be
plastic
happy families.

I don't know.
I never got it.
