Getting Through the Day
When the sky turns black at the dawn of night
The creatures come out at night
To see how they can drown their sorrows and forget the days they didn't realize
the moon glistens against the glasses that clank against each other
As the clock hands go around and round again
Truly opening your eyes and start to see nothing
Making relationships with people that also don’t feel anything
Praying to things that only cost money
What can you do when the world is tightening its grip around your neck
When you're kicking and screaming and clawing your way
Only to get a tiny gasp of air
And shoved under again by the waves of death
Working the day away pretending everything is ok
While your body aches from hunger
while your body aches from sadness
While your body aches from pain
But really what’s the other option?
The creatures come out at night
