Flatlined
I dreamed of you, my love.
Although I know you're safe in Heaven above,
I dreamed I was at your deathbed, your face it looked so gaunt.
Your eyes were pleading, sad. Your facial features taunt.
I watched the heart monitor flat line,
and your heart went still.
As your spirit left your body, my heart was frozen in time.
Crying out, I reached for you,
Screaming, pleading, the nurses calling Code Blue.
It ended with them taking you away,
The sun was rising on a brand new day.
Relief and tears swept over me
as I opened my eyes to reality.
The morning had come, the dream was gone,
A horrible, terrifying dream.
Yet the reality is,
You're still gone from me.
I love you now,
I love you still,
you know I always, always will.
