Close Your Eyes (And Think How it Used To Be)
Eyes gaze beauty
from across a crowded room.
Heart's beat closely
entwined, synchronized
because that's
how it used to be.
Many years later
Eyes inspire hatred
dislike, stained
like blood
on your other lovers knife,
Pity beats compression
to a pulp.
Wipe the tears from
my pillow of a otherwise
happy life.
We fell out of love
Like I fell out a of a tree
As a child,
Breaking my heart,
Your flower defiled
By someone else's stroke.
Fuck you.
Surrounded by bars
Your blood pumps
through my heart
I laugh
and close my eyes
and think
how it used to be.
