demon speak
I'm saddened I called the darkness
and it answered
I still hear its echo in my hallways
with resounding footfalls
the demons stir
I try and deny them
but they are part of my nature
when provoked they rise to the surface
I can't collar or tame them
they don't belong to me
they belong to the universe
riding on the ether
their voices sound
whispering in my dreams while i'm sleeping
letting me know they've quieted
but aren't leaving
I struggle to smother their thoughts
sometimes I can't help it
and they come out
rising to the light that shunned them
saying "here we are God
if you love her stop us"
but he never does
instead he answers they are the spice
he chooses to flavor me with
so they bide their time with me and me them
I've promised them freedom for eternity
for their service within
though they disturb me
they are a part of my family
they are a part of what makes me, me
