Fall From Grace

Behind metal wings I take refuge
covering my nakedness
where the sun can not scorch
prying eyes can not see.

My fall from grace too great
the pain it caused left an exposed heart
my once fragile wings broken
I grew an armor unpenetrable.

With these wings I soar high
above judgement and its keen eye
I evade detection, with my metallic protection.

My lonely heart crys
for the downey innocence of the wings I once wore
but they are no help to me now.

This world is full of broken hearts
it's better to wear the metal
of the hard and the uncaring
or is it?

When you've gained experience worth sharing.
