Image for the poem Lullaby

Lullaby

with the day gone, lay your head on my chest
I’ll sing you a lullaby to drive you off to bed
feeling so fortunate as I run my fingers through your hair
I know I don’t always see that you’re hurting
I’ll take the blame for my lack of caring
sometimes I’m broken when I should stay strong
your pretty face still gives me purpose
even in the darkest moments
don’t ever question that, Love

lay down, dream now
come melt into my arms
keep warm in the cold
and snuggle a little bit closer
with these sweet words sung
my love, my heart
my world, my gift from above

by my side, no one will ever hurt you
I promise you this till the day I die
don’t know what the future may hold
but I will protect you with all my very being
that’s what you mean to me,
the moon, the sky
that’s what you mean to me,
more than my existence
all I ask in return, is for you to stay,
and dream, right here, by me

lay down, dream now
come melt into my arms
keep warm in the cold
and snuggle a little bit closer
with these sweet words sung
my love, my heart
my world, my gift from above

I’ll always be into girls with a pencil length skit
big red hair, and a Gemini shirt
never ever meet another one
you’re a all original
couldn’t imagine anyone better
this peace is more than I deserve
every smile, every laughter,
cancels out any bad,
forever by my side is all I ask
