Heart Beats

My artistic heart be in sync with the beats
Even moreso to the lyrics that they speak
I seek the type of music that tells the real deal
Something more than promoting popping pills

Tell of the consequences of living that life
Glamorizing self destruction just isn't right
Fight the temptation of simply knodding your head
Pay closer attention to what you're being subliminally fed

It's said that if you control the mind the body will follow
They're dumbing down the music to make your mind hollow
Filling it up with junk about partying and bullshit
Deterring you away from displaying the black fist

Kaepernick took a knee because of what he sees
Getting tired of expiring from what makes us bleed
Not just the police but also all of these so called G's
Fake emcees encouraging you to throw up your B's

Or your C's out in them streets as you slanging and banging
Mentally exhibiting the polar opposite of Martin Luther King
I'm envisioning the youth evolving from Detroit Red to Malcolm X
But first we must minimize all of the bleeding like a Kotex
