Night Splendor
no moon tonight
the barks subdued
drunken footsteps
long retired
no winds to sing
through dry sticks
this night
affiant crickets
choked up
stifled
sleep draped
souls next door
don't stir nor rouse
on a return trip
from dreamland
as he cracks
her skull
her body
their child
just another
number
another loss........forgotten
