Connect the Dots

Please don’t judge me
By the color of my skin
Not all white people
Are guilty of the sins

Committed against our
Black, yellow, red and brown
Brothers and sisters
Constructed to keep them down

My love is no different than yours
My brown sister brother
Please don’t disregard me
And look away

My pallid complexion
Is not a reflection
Of what is in my heart

I won’t foolishly say
That I do not see color
Only a fool would say such a thing
Clothed in this pallor

My life has not been easy
My blood is on many hands
Let’s not compare our sufferings
Sister girl and brother man

Let us both celebrate
Both the victories and the sorrows
And teach our children
Hope for their tomorrows
