I am not fat
I am not insane
I am not dysfunctional
I am not lonely
I am not ill
I am not in love
or out of it
My heart is not broken
I am not disillusioned
I am not lost
I am not a homosexual longing to come out
or a teenager on drugs
I do not live
in a third world country
I am a slave to no-one
I am not angry
I am not complaining
I am not afraid
I am not hungry
or penniless
I am like you
and we are both
lucky to be alive

There's nothing more gratifying than being told you've been unnerving, Cthonian - especially when it comes from yourself - as some of your own poems have that same sought after quality.
