I Tried
I tried to make you love me
Maybe I tried too hard
The more I wanted to be yours
The faster my world fell apart
I guess I was tired of hanging on
The rope to my heart frayed slow
I held on til my hands burned
And then I just let go...
As I spiraled into a life without you
I wonder what could have been
If you had really wanted me
If I had meant more than just a friend
Here one day, gone the next
As I slowly drove away
Somehow in my soul I knew
There was nothing more to say
You never heard my cries again
But every day I whispered "love you"
Until the future in miles lay before me
I never dreamed of a me without you
If it is meant to be, it will, you said
But I always knew the truth inside
I just wonder would I have made you happy?
Because until I let go, I honestly tried
I tried to stay a tiny part of your life
Oh soulmate, if somehow you only knew
I gave you my heart, my soul, my love
I would have given all for you
Maybe I tried too hard
The more I wanted to be yours
The faster my world fell apart
I guess I was tired of hanging on
The rope to my heart frayed slow
I held on til my hands burned
And then I just let go...
As I spiraled into a life without you
I wonder what could have been
If you had really wanted me
If I had meant more than just a friend
Here one day, gone the next
As I slowly drove away
Somehow in my soul I knew
There was nothing more to say
You never heard my cries again
But every day I whispered "love you"
Until the future in miles lay before me
I never dreamed of a me without you
If it is meant to be, it will, you said
But I always knew the truth inside
I just wonder would I have made you happy?
Because until I let go, I honestly tried
I tried to stay a tiny part of your life
Oh soulmate, if somehow you only knew
I gave you my heart, my soul, my love
I would have given all for you
