Snow edged round the fields like lace
sheep shelter on the lea
meadows patterned frozen face
natures ice palace melting grace
 
dormant months when sun is scarce
long shadows shorten, long coats replaced
maypole dancers lead the way
the intertwine around natures ribbon-ed face
 
light footsteps floras sweet bouquet
cupids arrow free to fly today
the young buds that dance a verdant display
the seasons arch composes its own march
 
for winters thaw our springtime meat
your heart the lamb religion needs
mothers day battles for canteen meals
cellophane sentiments nothing for real
 
the chocolate eggs supermarkets lay
the cards with nothing much to say
