Treasure

As I wandered
Through the day
Thinking thoughts
Along the way
Gazed at trees
Bright displays
Contrast to this
Day in gray

Same sun
Softens ice
Hardens clay
Same sun
Gives us light
Fades away
Same sun
Warms our faces
Burns in pain

Wind can change
Steal a flame
Steal the heat
Bring the rain
A wisp of smoke
Distorts the way
Window closed
Shattered pane

Same tree
Blocks the light
Brings the shade
Same strength
Holds one up
Falls away
Same soul
Filled with joy
Filled with pain

Wind can change
Hide the flame
Hide the light
Behind the rain
Wash off the dirt
Expose the pain
Show our cracks
Make us lame

Same hand
Reaching out
Soothes away
Same hope
Growing new
In trust can wait
Same love
Brings us joy
Brings us pain

As I wondered
Through the day
Heart was bright
Fighting gray
Hope held on
Despair gave way
Only love
Right here remains

In fragile jars
Treasure lays
A source of light
Transforms pain
Mercy gives
A brand new way
Faith holds on
Endures thru pain
Offers hope
Holds our gaze

He renews us
In our spirits
Everyday
Everyday
A brand new day

He renews us

“Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up.

For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:1, 6-7, 9-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬
